The Podiatrists Registration Board of New Zealand is the regulatory authority for the occupation of podiatry. Their primary aim is to protect public interest by ensuring podiatrists are safe and competent. The Registration Board set minimum standards for education programmes and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Recertification Framework. PodiatryNZ has a positive working relationship with the Podiatrist’s Registration Board and we look forward to continuing to collaborate on the issues facing the profession. More information here

On the 1st July 2017, ACC introduced the orthotics contract. PodiatryNZ had input at the 11th hour which saw a record number of podiatrists registering to take on new contracts. Since its introduction, there have been regular communications with various departments at ACC.

PodiatryNZ is committed to maintaining a positive and productive dialogue with ACC for the benefit of ACC clients and our members.

Much of the government advocacy work undertaken by PodiatryNZ is aimed to address current workforce issues. PodiatryNZ aims to work with the Ministry of Health and other government departments including Health Workforce New Zealand to improve the working conditions and environment of Podiatrists in New Zealand.
